I was reading in Matthew 14 this morning, and I came across the story of Peter walking on water. The Words that Jesus spoke to Peter really hit me this morning. As Peter begin to sink into the water, Jesus said in Matthew 14:31, “You don’t have much faith…Why did you doubt me?”. This made me think, this is undoubtedly how many Christians live life on a daily basis. We start out in our Christian with child-like faith; believing & praying for everything & everybody but the minute our circumstance get tougher, the minute our friends question our beliefs, or the minute we take on a ‘worldview’ of life, we begin to sink. Similar to Peter, although not on water, we sink into debt, alcoholism, food addiction, sexual sin, depression, divorce and the list goes on. And just like Peter, when we have exhausted our natural means and fear sets in…we call out to the Lord to save us.
The interesting part is Jesus never left Peter but when Peter took his mind off Jesus and focused on his circumstances…well, he started to sink.
To build out faith we must practice being faithful. Faithful in our actions, faithful in our prayer time, faithful in our Bible reading, and faithful in our worship.
With faith & according to His will…All things are possible. Remember the days of your youth and stick to Christ with a childlike faith!
Freedom is a great notion but without balance and purpose, a person will self-destruct.
When we chase money, we run away from God!
